The IN2DAFNE project launched on October 27th via livestream from the IBM Garage in Milan.<\/h2>\n

The project is born out of a concrete demand within the pharma supply chain to provide a hi-tech solution to tackle the problem of limited-supply and out-of-stock medicine. Once again, Intesa has played its part as technology partner for the DAFNE Consortium with the launch of the IN2DAFNE project.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Technological innovation achieves its most profound purpose when it is generates benefits on a wide scale:<\/strong> this is what has been happening with the IN2DAFNE project developed by the DAFNE Consortium in collaboration with Intesa (IBM Group).
Through IN2DAFNE<\/strong>, indeed, all of those up and down the healthcare supply chain<\/strong> (manufacturers, wholesalers, and supervisory institutions), will have, for the first time ever, a 360-degree vantage point over the distribution of pharmaceuticals across different regions<\/strong>. As a consequence, the problem of limited- and out-of-stock medication will be drastically reduced. Here are the details.<\/p>\n

The Demands on the Supply Chain<\/h3>\n

The impetus behind the IN2DAFNE project is a well-known, and widespread need within the pharmaceutical industry, where the key players include drug manufacturers, distributors, and institutional supervisors.<\/p>\n

The issue with limited and out-of-stock medication is a very topical one, and one on the rise, not just in Italy, but across the globe. The situation has been aggravated by the fact that players along the healthcare production chain, and within those institutions tasked with monitoring it, have an only partial view of the amount of medicine available within the supply chain at large.<\/p>\n

This is an issue of transparency, trust, and confidentiality in terms of data being shared amongst players within the supply chain. Now, thanks to blockchain technology, smart contracts, and private data, that problem can finally be solved<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The IN2DAFNE Objective<\/h3>\n

A key objective of the IN2DAFNE<\/strong> project is allowing all parties within the supply chain to access an \u201celevation\u201d of the information they need<\/strong>, based on their own role, with the assurance of anonymous and aggregated data<\/strong>.
Blockchain and private-data technologies ensure secure data sharing, obviating the need for intermediaries to hold the information, and to ensure proper distribution of the same.<\/p>\n

Thanks to IN2DAFNE, therefore, manufacturers will have a complete snapshot of the distribution<\/strong> of their pharmaceuticals throughout the country, with the possibility of remodulating their distribution plans<\/strong> based on actual historical figures.
Intermediate distributors will be able to view information relating to the overall availability of the individual medicines with the supply chain at large. They will be able to rearrange their operations and to adjust their policies accordingly.
Finally, the institutions<\/strong> tasked with monitoring these operations will be able to see the availability, or lack thereof, of medicines in each region<\/strong>, and can thus count on an additional instrument, one that is both reliable and up to date, to provide an alert on limited-stock situations.<\/p>\n

Intesa\u2019s role in the project<\/h3>\n

Intesa is the DAFNE Consortium’s technology partner for all the principal digitalisation projects<\/strong> for this supply chain, providing support to the IN2DAFNE project through innovative digital services provided according to a co-innovation model that the company has, for many years, been using with the Consortium. \u201cThe DAFNE Consortium can retain control over project governance without thereby having to rely on a third party to act as guarantor\u201d explained Pietro Lanza as part of the project launch. \u201cBlockchain, Distributed Ledgers and Smart Contracts now give us the possibility of tackling a long-standing problem that has, until now, evaded a solution, in an innovative way\u201d.<\/p>\n

Da una necessit\u00e0 concreta della supply chain pharma a una soluzione tecnologica avanzata per contrastare la carenza o l\u2019irreperibilit\u00e0 dei farmaci. Anche per il progetto IN2DAFNE Intesa \u00e8 partner tecnologico del Consorzio DAFNE.<\/p><\/blockquote>

L\u2019innovazione tecnologica raggiunge il suo scopo pi\u00f9 profondo quando riesce a creare benefici su larga scala<\/strong>: \u00e8 ci\u00f2 che sta succedendo grazie al progetto IN2DAFNE, sviluppato dal Consorzio DAFNE in collaborazione con Intesa (Gruppo IBM).
Attraverso IN2DAFNE<\/strong>, infatti, gli attori della filiera healthcare<\/strong> (produttori, grossisti e istituzioni di monitoraggio)\u00a0avranno per la prima volta una visibilit\u00e0 completa sulla distribuzione dei farmaci nelle diverse regioni<\/strong>, riuscendo, di conseguenza, a limitare il fenomeno della carenza e dell\u2019indisponibilit\u00e0 di medicinali per i pazienti. Ecco di cosa si tratta nel dettaglio.<\/p>

Le esigenze della filiera<\/h3>

Il progetto IN2DAFNE nasce da un\u2019esigenza conosciuta e condivisa da tutto il mondo farmaceutico, i cui principali attori sono aziende farmaceutiche produttrici, distributori e autorit\u00e0 di monitoraggio istituzionali.<\/p>

Il fenomeno delle carenze e indisponibilit\u00e0 di medicinali \u00e8 di estrema attualit\u00e0: un fenomeno in aumento, non solo in Italia ma anche a livello globale, accentuato dal fatto che gli attori della filiera healthcare e le Istituzioni preposte al monitoraggio non hanno completa visibilit\u00e0 delle quantit\u00e0 di medicinali disponibili all\u2019interno dell\u2019intera supply chain.<\/p>

Un problema di trasparenza, fiducia e riservatezza dei dati tra gli attori della filiera che \u00e8 stato possibile risolvere grazie alla tecnologia blockchain, smart contract e private data<\/strong>.<\/p>

L\u2019obiettivo di IN2DAFNE<\/h3>

Obiettivo del progetto<\/strong> IN2DAFNE \u00e8 permettere a tutti i soggetti della filiera di poter accedere in maniera profilata alle informazioni<\/strong> di cui ha bisogno, in base al proprio ruolo, assicurando dati anonimi e aggregati.
La tecnologia blockchain e private data garantisce infatti una condivisione sicura dei dati<\/strong>, eliminando la necessit\u00e0 di un attore terzo che detenga le informazioni e assicuri la corretta distribuzione delle stesse.<\/p>

Grazie a IN2DAFNE, quindi, le aziende produttrici avranno a disposizione una fotografia completa della distribuzione<\/strong> dei loro farmaci sul territorio nazionale, con la possibilit\u00e0 di rimodulare i loro piani distributivi<\/strong> sulla base di dati storici reali.
I distributori intermedi avranno visione delle informazioni relative alla disponibilit\u00e0 complessiva dei singoli medicinali nell\u2019intera supply chain, con l\u2019opportunit\u00e0 di ripianificare le attivit\u00e0 e rimodulare le proprie politiche.
Infine, le istituzioni<\/strong> preposte al monitoraggio avranno visibilit\u00e0 della disponibilit\u00e0 o indisponibilit\u00e0 dei farmaci in ogni regione, e potranno contare su uno strumento ulteriore<\/strong>, affidabile e aggiornato, per segnalare eventuali carenze.<\/p>

Il ruolo di Intesa nel progetto<\/h3>

Intesa \u00e8 partner tecnologico del Consorzio Dafne per tutti i principali progetti di trasformazione digitale<\/strong> della filiera e supporta il progetto IN2DAFNE con servizi digitali innovativi secondo un modello di co-innovazione intrapreso da anni con il Consorzio. \u00abIl Consorzio DAFNE pu\u00f2 mantenere la governance del progetto, senza per\u00f2 doversi ergere a terza parte fidata che funge da garante\u00bb ha affermato Pietro Lanza durante l\u2019evento di presentazione del progetto. \u00abBlockchain, Distributed Ledger e Smart Contract oggi ci danno la possibilit\u00e0 di affrontare in modo innovativo un problema non di certo nuovo ma che era rimasto irrisolto fino ad oggi.\u00bb<\/p>
